Creating Animated Explainers with Adobe Voice

Are you looking for something fun and engaging that makes students use higher order thinking skills? In this session, you'll learn about the free iPad app, Adobe Voice, and how you can use it to create Animated Explainers. Animated Explainers are short, video-type presentations that tell a story or communicate an idea. In addition to learning about how to use the app, you'll leave with a list of ideas for how you might implement this in your classroom.

What are Animated Explainers?

Short, informational video that explains something and attracts attention. They are sometimes called Explainers or Explainer Videos. They are often seen in marketing materials such as social media, web sites, blogs, and on TV.

Examples:
  • Spotify
  • Common Craft
  • Plainly Simple Studios
This is a good article from Common Craft founder, Lee LeFever, that explains what Animated Explainers are.

Tools you can use to create Animated Explainers:
  • Educreations
  • iMovie
  • PowToon
  • Adobe Voice
    • How To Video on Adobe Voice
This is a short list, there are many other software programs and apps that would work as well.

Animated Explainer Ideas:

Teacher Communication
  • Sharing info about class projects
  • Providing instruction
  • Educating parents on new math strategies
  • Newsletters
  • Monthly classroom updates

Student Assessment
  • Classroom presentations
  • Book reports
  • Explaining how they solved math problems
  • Studying for an exam
