Research

My research explores how thoughtful instructional design, technology, and engaging learning experiences can improve mathematics teaching and learning. I am particularly interested in the following areas:
  • Adaptive Learning Technologies
Investigating the impact of adaptive learning platforms in K–12 mathematics and preparing future teachers to effectively integrate these technologies into classroom instruction.

  • Gamification and Learning Motivation
Exploring how gamification can increase student engagement, motivation, and persistence in mathematics through thoughtfully designed learning experiences.

  • Productive Struggle and Mathematical Perseverance
Examining instructional strategies that help students embrace challenge, develop perseverance, and build confidence when solving complex mathematical problems.

  • Positive Mathematics Identity
Studying classroom practices that foster students' sense of belonging, confidence, and identity as capable mathematics learners.

  • Game-Based Learning in Mathematics and STEM
Evaluating how educational games and game-based instructional approaches influence conceptual understanding, achievement, and long-term interest in mathematics and STEM.

  • Teacher Professional Learning
Investigating effective models of professional development that support mathematics instruction and technology integration.
