Mobile Apps

I'm a firm believer in the importance of limiting screen time for kids. However, there are some great math apps available to help students develop math skills in fun and creative ways. I like apps that make you think! Below are some of my favorites. 

Mathigon
Mathigon (FREE)
This app/website has so many great things for learning about math and exploring how beautiful it can be. 
Ages: 7 and up

Solve Me: Mobiles (FREE)
Figure out the value of each shape. Helps develop algebraic thinking skills.

This is a great app for kids and adults. It provides guided learning activities in a fun and engaging way. I highly recommend it.

Math Learning Center Apps (FREE)
There are 13 awesome apps on this site. These apps are primarily virtual manipulatives. They are excellent for helping students visual math and build conceptual understanding. Each app has activities that go with it.

This is a great app for younger children. It contains a series of math puzzles you have to complete.

Very challenging puzzles. You have to user your skills with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as problem solving skills.

This is a great app with multiple math games. It helps students with operations, logic and reasoning, representing numbers in multiple ways, and more.

Monument Valley ($3.99)
Solve the puzzles. Good for all ages. Each puzzle has impossible shapes which are touched on in Yucky!. The graphics are great in this app.

These are really fun puzzles to solve. You really have to look for patterns to solve them.

This is a fun way to introduce students to solving equations.

Todo Math (FREE)
A really nice app for helping students with counting, adding, subtracting, and foundational math skills.
Ages: 4 to 8

Math Mountains: Multiply & Divide (FREE)
This was an app that I created to help students learn their fact families. It displayed a number bond and you had to find the missing parts of the number bond. I removed this app from the App store in 2024 because it wasn't being downloaded very much.
